A gallery is a tab on the publication, not a separate page. You add photographs, order them, caption them, and they land under the content.
The gallery, as a visitor sees it
A post's photos as a visitor sees them, under the page, with their captions. One click opens them full size.
The Gallery tab: grid or masonry
Each photograph has its caption and alt text, translated. Two arrangements to choose from: the grid crops every photograph to one ratio, read row by row; masonry lets each photograph keep its proportions, read down the columns.
The Galleries module: the photos, without the rest
Galleries have their own menu entry, Galleries, which lists the publications and opens only their gallery. You can hand the photos to a photographer or a colleague without giving them access to the text, publishing or SEO: they add, order and caption, nothing else.
The galleries list
The Galleries module lists every publication with how many photos it holds, and leads to the gallery alone. Photos can be entrusted to someone without opening the rest of the page to them.
